Maybe you have never heard of a email pop up before because it is not exactly a word that we use in every day life
But you probably still know what I am talking about
You have probably visited a website before and your entire screen was covered with a template that was asking you to subscribe
That is basically what a email pop up is
And yes they can be pretty annoying especially if they pop up after you have visited a website for 0,01 second
But if you can use email pop ups correctly it can be a very effective way to grow your email list
Which is the reason why these companies/people are using email pop ups
If nobody was subscribing from these email pop ups
Then these companies/bloggers would have zero benefit from using these email pop ups
So no they are not only there to annoy people
I am going to teach you the right way to use them so you can get more people on your email list
And annoy as few people as you possibly can
What is getresponse?
Getresponse is a amazing email marketing service

But enough about that and let’s get back to getresponse
Getresponse is not only a email marketing service
It is an amazing email marketing service
And it is really easy to create things that you can use to grow your email list with getresponse
For example the email pop up that I will be showing you how to create in this blog post
Let’s just start with the tutorial
How to create a email pop up
Okay now that we know exactly what a email pop up is
And we have created our getresponse account

Now you just have to be on the homepage
And then go to the top left of your screen and click on tools
And then click on forms and pop ups
Once you have clicked on the forms and popups button
Just click on the create button
And then make sure that you select the pop up option
And now we will be given thousands of templates that we can use
I recommend scrolling through them and finding something that you like
It does not matter what kind of template you select you can select whatever you like
I am going to select this social media one
Because it is pretty simple and i am only creating this pop up for this tutorial
Just make sure that you select something
And now we are going to edit it
Editing in getresponse is pretty simple
You can pretty much just click on anything and start editing it
If you don’t like the text just click on the text and start typing your own
If you don’t like the color of the button just click the button and change the colour
And if you want to add more stuff to your sign up form
Then just go the right side of the screen and start dragging things over
And if you think that your sign up form is too small or big then you can drag it to whatever size you like
Editing in getresponse is that simple
So there is really nothing left for me to explain when it comes to editing
This is how my sign up forms looks like to give you guys an example
As you can see i have removed social medias like twitter and added my own pinterest account
If you are planning on using the same template as me
You can insert your own social media links in the logo by just double clicking on it then you will get the link option
And you can also add whatever social media logos you want
Okay now that we have edited our template and we are happy with how it looks
It’s time for the next step
Publishing your email pop up on your website
Okay now it is time to publish your email pop to your website
Now we just need to click on the next button which we can find on the top right of our screen
And now i am going to explain this picture
Triggers
Here you can edit when you want your popup to “trigger” aka just showup on someone’s screen
You can choose whether your pop up shows up when someone has visited your website for 1 second
Or it can also popup when someone has been on your website for 2 minutes
And you can also choose whether your popup pops up when someone scrolls a certain amount
So if someone scrolls through 50% of your website your popup will show up
Which is actually not a bad idea because if someone scrolls through 50% of your website
They are at least somewhat interested rather then someone who just literally visited your website for 1 sec
And there is also the exit intent which means that it will pop up when someone is about to leave
And last option is inactivity which means it will pop up when someone is inactive on your website
Timing
This is pretty much how long your pop up will stay up
And if you want to show it to your visitors twice or not
This can be a handy feature if you are having a template for some holiday/sale
And you don’t want it to run for too long
Audience
Here you can choose if your pop up will show up only for new people
Or only for regular visitors
Or for everyone
And whether you want it to popup only for people that are on mobile or desktop
This can be a good option maybe certain templates work well for mobile or desktop
So when you have selected your settings for your pop up
Just click on next
And make sure that you have your website connected
And then just copy and paste your code on your website
