How to use Pinterest

In this blog post i am going to teach you how to use Pinterest for your blog

I am going to teach you how to properly set up your account

So that you can get the most traffic that you possibly can get from Pinterest

Because if you want to get a huge amount of traffic from Pinterest into your blog

Or just any traffic at all

You can not just create a Pinterest account and save a couple of pins and instantly gain 100,000 visitors from pinterest monthly on your blog

I mean it kinda worked out like that in the old days but it’s not like that anymore in 2022

And don’t let that discourage you because I am going to explain how you can use pinterest for your blog

So that you can follow easily through this tutorial without getting stuck and confused

I have been using Pinterest for a couple of years to get traffic to my websites

So i know what works and will not work

So let’s just get on with this tutorial

Create your Pinterest account

The first step of this tutorial is extremely simple

Just create your Pinterest account

If you already have a Pinterest account then that’s cool

But if you don’t then just click here to sign up

But you have to make sure that you are going to create a Pinterest business account

Because that is the account that we will need to get the most amount of traffic

Okay once you have selected the business account

And you have entered your username and password etc.

Pinterest will take you through a short survey

And they will just be asking you some basic questions to get your account properly set up

They are not extremely important so don’t spend too much time on them

Just make sure that you have a good profile name because that is really the only thing that matters

How to claim your website on Pinterest

Right before i show you how to create your own pinterest pin and pinterest boards and some other stuff

I am going to show you how to claim your website

This will verify that your Pinterest account is the owner of your blog

You are basically verifying your website

So that everyone will know that you are not a fake pinterest account and that you are the real owner of your blog

The first thing that we are going to do is click on the top right corner of our screen

and click on settings

and then click on claimed accounts

and now you are just going to click on claim

And now we are going to copy the HTML code

Now you need to copy the HTML tag

Once we have copied our HTML tag

We need to go to our wordpress admin dashboard

and you need to make sure that you have plugin called yoast seo

It is the best wordpress plugin for google seo

and it will also help us connect our website with pinterest

if you don’t already have your own blog then click here

Okay once we are in our wordpress admin dashboard

You need to click on the yoast seo plugin

and click on social

and then click on pinterest

And then paste your HTML code

And then click on save

and then once you have pasted your html code and saved

You need to back to your pinterest account

And just put your website and click on claim

And then everything should be done and you have claimed your website

How to edit your pinterest profile

Okay now that we have claimed our website

You probably want to change your profile and cover picture because it is probably still blank

Let’s just start with changing our profile picture

I recommend having a bit more professional picture then my spongebob

But you can do whatever you like

Just click on settings which you will find in the top right corner of your screen

and then just make sure that you have public profile selected

And just click on the change button

A lot of bloggers just have a good picture of themselves

But just select whatever you like

The purple arrow is pointing where you can edit your profile description

So the people that visit your pinterest profile will know what your pinterest page is about

It is a good idea to share same information about your blog or maybe about yourself here

And also include some keywords for pinterest seo

Now it is time to change our cover photo

and that is really simple

we just need to go back to our pinterest profile

and just click on the pencil icon which is above our profile picture

then just click on change cover and select some cool picture and you are good to go

How to create a pinterest board

Okay now i am going to show you

How to create pinterest boards

Because we need pinterest boards so we can post our pinterest pins somewhere

It is actually really simple to create a pinterest board

First thing that we are going to do is go to the feed which you can find in the top left corner of your screen

And then we are going to find a pinterest pin that we want to save

If you can’t find a single pinterest pin that you would like to save

Just pick a random one and save it anyway

And when you find the pinterest pin just click on the save button

And then you will get an option to create your pinterest board

So you have a place to save that pinterest pin

I recommend using really basic names

If you are going to have a pinterest board about affiliate marketing

Just name it affiliate marketing

Instead of crazy affiliate marketing tips for moms or whatever

That’s just how pinterest works

The more simple the name the better

And if you can’t think of a simple name then just use whatever pinterest is suggesting

And then just enter in the name

And ta-da you have just created your very own pinterest board

And if you wanna see how it looks and maybe you want to edit

Just click on your pinterest profile and go to saved

If you want to edit your pinterest board

Just click on it

and then click on the dots that are next to your pinterest board name

And click on edit board

Here you can describe what your pinterest board is about

It is also a good idea to have good keywords in your pinterest board so it is more likely to be found by other users

You can also check the box to keep this board secret

That means that only you will be able to see that pinterest board

Yeah and once you have edited your board description there is really not that much left to do

Your pinterest board is pretty much good to go

How to create a Pinterest pin

Now we are going to create a Pinterest pin

First step to creating a pinterest pin

Is clicking on the create button which you will find in the top left corner of your screen

And then just click on the create button

And then click on the create pin button

And now we have this

First that i highly recommending doing is creating a high quality picture for your pinterest pin

At least a picture that will look good enough

Because that is the most important thing to get people to notice and click on your Pinterest pin

Let’s make an example

If you have the best blog post in the world

But you post a terribly ugly pinterest pin with that blog post

Then nobody will ever click on that pinterest pin

And your pinterest pin will basically become invisible and nobody will read the best blog post ever

That’s just how pinterest works

Because pinterest is a visual search engine

If you are scared that you are not good enough to create high quality image for your blog

Then i have a solution for you

And it is called canva

I use canva for all of my pinterest pins,facebook and even for the pictures on my blog

You don’t have to be good at editing to make high quality images in canva

Their templates are super professional and it is really easy to edit them

Anyone can do it click here to sign up it is 100% free

But the free version is limited and i highly recommed upgrading your account so you can have access to everything in canva

So let me show you how to make a pinterest pin in canva

If you already have a picture ready for your pinterest pin then just skip this part

Make sure that you are logged into your canva account

and then just type pinterest pin in the search box

And you can select either the 1000×1500 or the 1080×1920 size

I am just going to select the 1000×1500

And now you will get over 9866 templates that you can choose from

or you can choose a blank template that you can edit yourself

I am just going to select a random one

I will explain better how you can create high quality pinterest pins with canva in another blog post

But it is pretty easy to edit anyways

I am just going to show you how to download it after you finish editing it

And don’t be afraid to make mistakes there is an undo button there for a reason

Okay once your picture is ready

Go to the top right corner of your screen and click on

and then just press the download button again

And now we need to go back to pinterest

And upload our photo that we just edited

You can drag it or just click on the upload button

But now we are going to select a board that we can post our pinterest pin in

And it is really important that the pinterest pin is relevant to the board that we are posting in

Because if you just spam our pinterest pin anywhere and everywhere you could get banned

I am just going to select my affiliate marketing board

And then we need to enter our title

And it is important that you have some good keywords in your title

And once you have entered your title

You need to make a good description about what your pinterest pin is about

And it is also important to have some good keywords for your board description

You just need to put your link there
